Apprenticeships are the backbone of a skilled and dedicated workforce, offering hands-on experience and education – bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Today marks the start of National Apprenticeship Week, an annual jubilee that shines a spotlight on the remarkable contributions and significant career strides made by apprentices within myriad industries, including our own at Daniel Owen.
Apprenticeships are the foundations of expertise, and apprenticeships are structured programs that blend on-the-job training with classroom learning. They are the golden tickets for those eager to earn while they learn, gaining industry-recognised credentials and invaluable professional experience.
The proof is in real-life experiences. We're excited to introduce you to three of our current & past apprentices at Daniel Owen. Each, with its unique narrative and milestones, symbolises the breadth and depth of growth that apprenticeships can foster. Discover their journeys, learn from their challenges, and celebrate their achievements as they pave their way toward a future as bright as their ambitions.
Meet Brandon Chikota, who's turning passion into a profession with a Level 3 Digital Marketing program.
💬 "𝗛𝗶, 𝗶'𝗺 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗻, approaching the completion of my Level 3 Digital Marketing apprenticeship at Daniel Owen. Being part of this apprenticeship scheme has been a delightful journey, unlocking numerous career opportunities and fostering continuous growth in my professional development. I highly recommend apprenticeships as a fantastic bridge between classroom learning and real-world application."
Meet Matt Conroy, our IT Director at Daniel Owen, who completed a degree-level apprenticeship to increase his expertise.
💬 "𝐇𝐢, 𝐦𝐲 𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭, and I have just completed the final assignment on a Level 6 Apprenticeship in Digital and Technological Solutions. I found an apprenticeship a great way to continue my professional development; studying a broad range of subjects such as cyber security, project management, and networking has given me the theoretical knowledge to back up the practical experience I’ve gained in the workplace. The cohort I was a part of came from a number of industries, which also helped give me a different perspective on the use of technology in the workplace."
Meet Gemma Phillips, our talented team leader for our Taunton office. Gemma has undergone two apprenticeships with us and shares her experience below.
💬 "𝐇𝐢, 𝐢'𝐦 𝐆𝐞𝐦𝐦𝐚, during my ten years with Daniel Owen, I completed two apprenticeships. Firstly, I completed my qualification in recruitment, coupled with my experience, which makes us experts in our field, ensuring that we offer our clients the best service we can and equips us with a full understanding of the laws and regulations of our industry. As my career progressed, I also completed a management qualification, enabling me to grow a successful team while progressing as a consultant. I am very grateful for the knowledge that I have gained from both courses, and they give me the confidence to do my job well every day; I highly recommend both courses, especially the recruitment course, to any consultants."
