Job Title: Gardener Operative
Location: Southwark
Contract: Temporary to permanent
Salary: £15.00 per hour

The Role

Gardener Operative Duties:

• Carry out general grounds-maintenance tasks across our social housing estates including mowing, trimming, weeding, hedge cutting and clearance of paths and communal areas.

• Maintain and operate equipment safely and effectively, ensuring all green spaces are tidy and resident-friendly.

• Undertake seasonal planting, pruning, removal of debris and litter picking to uphold a high standard of presentation.

• Work in accordance with health & safety requirements, especially when working in communal resident areas.

• Report any issues (e.g., damaged plants, overgrown hedges, littering) and support the team to keep sites safe and accessible.

What we are looking for

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping or gardening - preferably within a social housing, communal or public environment.

• Practical horticultural knowledge: mowing, strimming, weeding, hedge cutting.

• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, and perform physical tasks (lifting, bending, standing for long periods).

• Good time-management and reliability - this is a role where being dependable matters.

• A positive attitude toward working in areas occupied by residents and a focus on delivering quality, friendly service.

Requirements
